Jordan

Jordan has to be one of the most breathtaking countries I have ever visited. After the desert dryness of Dubai, it was a wonderful sight to see green landscape and rolling hills. Visiting my friend who lived there at the time, I was able to relax and be shown around the country starting with the capital Amman. Like any city, it was busy and crowded with lots of traffic. Hawkers would approach cars at traffic lights selling everything from newspapers to strawberries. Passing the embassy area, houses were located on small winding streets and it was here that was to be home for the next few days. Too eager to explore, we set off for Jaresh a famous monumental site which was just the start of our historical trip around the country. Thousands of years old, you could imagine yourself as the starring role in Hercules as you climbed the stairs to the top of the large ampitheatre and looked down on the scene below. Thousands of years ago, there would have been battles but today, you can simply enjoy the locals playing the bagpipes! Wandering through the ruins, you can see where the old streets used to be and the foundations of the homes there. All around wonderful views of the city surround you.
